FESTIVAL RENAIXEMENT
From 04 September to 06 September Spain / SANT MIQUEL DELS REIS MONASTERY | VALENCIA | SPAIN
The Renaissance is an artistic period—and by extension, a cultural one—that marked the beginning of the Modern Age. It reflects the ideals of the humanist movement that developed in Europe during the 15th and 16th centuries, breaking away from the medieval worldview. This era saw the resurgence of commerce, urban life, the rise of the bourgeoisie and strong monarchies, major geographical discoveries, a unified vision of the world, the spread of classical philosophy, the separation of religion and philosophy, of reason and faith, freedom of thought, and major scientific advances.
The invention of the printing press and the development of universities helped shift culture from monasteries to the streets of cities. Man became the measure of all things in a secular society that advocated, perhaps, a more personal and direct religion—one in which individuals were freer from religious institutions. Artists, unburdened by the obsession with specialization, were more versatile: painters, sculptors, architects, or musicians who still worked in a world that was more artisanal than artistic.
For three days, we will offer a showcase of all this richness expressed through various forms that will allow visitors to immerse themselves in a unique space and enjoy the most significant artistic expressions of our past.
