The bite into the apple marks the beginning of a mythological narrative about guilt, shame and exclusion. But what if this moment is interpreted not as the Fall, but as a departure towards a self-determined experience of pleasure, desire – and power? “Eva’s Return” is a musical and literary journey through centuries of female perspectives: secret desires, open provocations, subtle hints and passionate drama. The programme features vocal and instrumental music by composers from the Middle Ages, the Renaissance and the Baroque, accompanied by texts, letters and poetry by women whose voices were long ignored or censored. The focus is on eroticism not as an object of male fantasy, but as an expression of female self-assertion. This look back at the past is not accompanied by remorse – but by pleasure.
