Ensemble Dialogos
From 06 November to 06 October France / Paris
What happens when music becomes an act of rebellion?
Step into Winchester Cathedral on a February morning in 964, a moment that sparked a silent coup and forever changed the sound of worship.
The new CD by Dialogos, Nexus Winchester (Arcana – Outhere Music), invites you into this extraordinary moment, when canons — men of scandalous and disreputable behaviour — were expelled, monks took their place, and some of the earliest polyphony in Western music was created.
Drawn from the Winchester Troper, these sumptuous works reveal a virtuosity and refinement that feel startlingly modern.
A thousand years later, Dialogos revives this repertoire not as a relic, but as living drama — where power, silence, and song collide, and where the past speaks urgently to the present.
Release concert — November 6, Paris, Oratoire du Louvre
