DANCING EUROPE
Musica barocca danzante
da Couperin a Telemann

Overtone Baroque Ensemble
A fascinating rereading of music between the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries is proposed along the lines of the dance movements with which it is permeated, crossing the languages of European Baroque. We start with Telemann, a refined example of Franco-German gallant taste, and then explore the poetics of Francois Couperin, with his famous harpsichord pieces that are transformed into psychological portraits. On the British side, the programme rediscovers rare gems: from Scottish folk tunes stylised by Italian Francesco Barsanti, to the more intimate writing of James Oswald. The Neapolitan virtuosity of Nicola Matteis, with dances full of theatrical vivacity sled jumps into Händel's monumental Passacaille and, to close, the pages full of nobility and grace of Marin Marais.  The next day, Danze Musicali will be a concert-story dedicated to children to discover dancing baroque music, being guided by the imagination and sound of the many different flutes and other instruments of the ensemble.
