El Gran Teatro del Mundo presents its programme "A pochi o a molti strumenti" in Guadix, one of the most beautiful and unknown towns of Southern Spain. Muffat returns to inspire this program with his monumental "Armonico Tributo cioè sonate da camera comodissime a pocchi o a molti stromenti" – Chamber Sonatas Perfectly Suited for Few or Many Instruments. Following the success of their two acclaimed recordings, El Gran Teatro del Mundo once again delves into the fascinating practice of historical reductions and instrumental expansion—this time applied to the Corelli school.
The program features works from Handel’s Roman period, the aforementioned Muffat (who explicitly credited Corelli’s influence in these Roman compositions), and even Corelli himself, as transcribed by his most famous pupil, Geminiani. A masterful revival of Baroque ingenuity—where intimate chamber music meets grand orchestral richness!
