A musical journey in the footsteps of Queen Christina of Sweden

The Collegium Musicum of the Conservatoire royal de Bruxelles invites audiences on a musical journey in the footsteps of Christine of Sweden, a remarkable figure of 17th-century Europe: queen, traveller and great patron of the arts.

Throughout her life and her many journeys across Europe, Christine of Sweden came into contact with exceptionally rich artistic and intellectual circles. Her passion for music and the arts led her to welcome and support numerous artists, composers and performers, making her court an important centre of European cultural life.

The programme presented by the Collegium Musicum evokes the different stages of this extraordinary journey. From one city to another, from one encounter to the next, music becomes the guiding thread of her travels, reflecting the cultural influences that shaped her artistic world.

Works by Jean-Baptiste Lully, Arcangelo Corelli, Vincenzo Albrici, Giacomo Carissimi and Alessandro Stradella will reveal some of the many facets of the European musical landscape of the period.

An invitation to discover, through music, the story of a queen who was independent-minded and passionate about the arts, at the heart of Baroque Europe.
