Cassandra’s Voice – Visions and Warnings of Doom from the Recent and Distant Past | zamus: early music festival 2026
From 27 May to 27 May Germany / Köln
tiefsaits
Anna Reisener, Alma Stolte, Mirjam-Luise Münzel – cello
Yongbeom Kwon – countertenor
Daniel Trumbull – harpsichord, organ
The voices that have been predicting the devastating consequences of man-made climate change for decades seem like the cries of the ancient prophetess Cassandra, who warned in vain of the fall of Troy. Countertenor Yongbeom Kwon, Daniel Trumbull on the harpsichord and the tiefsaits trio combine Benedetto Marcello’s Cassandra cantata with voices from the climate movement over the last 50 years.
Benedetto Marcello (1686–1739):
“Cassandra”. Cantata for alto and basso continuo
Sonata in B flat major for 2 cellos and basso continuo
Sonata in C minor for 2 cellos and basso continuo
