Cantigas of Santa Maria
From 28 February to 02 March France / Saint Guilhem-le-Désert
One of the most important musical compositions of the second half of the 13th century, the Cantigas de Santa Maria comprise more than 400 monodic songs singing the glory or the miracles of the Virgin.
The questions of their apparent simplicity and the often plurivocal rhythmic notation will be tackled in this training, as well as the interest of the melodies, sometimes less monodic than they appear, making in certain respects a palimpsest work, according to the meaning of this term by Gérard Genette.
All instruments are welcome.
