Romina Lischka, with her background in Western classical music and knowledge of North Indian dhrupad, and Ghalia Benali, a leading voice in Arabic classical music with a strong affinity for artistic crossovers, share a deep connection to the music of Marin Marais (1656–1728). The French viola da gamba virtuoso, a student of Monsieur de Sainte-Colombe, shaped the instrument’s legacy with a rich and expressive Baroque repertoire.

Building on their existing program Call to Prayer, they now expand this musical universe during a 7-day residency, developing new work for an extended quartet with Arabic voice, viola da gamba, oud and percussion. Rooted in a dialogue between Arabic musical traditions and early European repertoire, this new chapter unfolds through collective composition and improvisation, culminating in a concert presentation of this evolving creation.
