One of the most significant works in the history of music
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s final and unfinished composition – artfully completed by his pupil Franz Xaver Süßmayr – captivates with its exceptionally vivid and expressive musical language. In his Requiem, Mozart explores deeply human emotions such as doubt, fear and hope in the face of life’s transience. This Requiem, commissioned anonymously by Count Franz von Walsegg following the death of his wife, stood out from other settings and quickly became a highlight of Mozart’s oeuvre. The Requiem is presented in the form of a dance production that allows the audience to experience the themes of death and resurrection spatially. A visually striking production by the Bachakademie featuring young people from the Stuttgart region, which was nominated for the Opus Klassik 2020 award in the ‘Innovative Concert’ category.
