Ann Ford, Musician of the Enlightenment (lecture)

03 June France / Orléans

Ann Ford was a meteorite in the musical history of 18th-century England. Born into a wealthy but non-musical family, she received a careful musical education that led her to want to make a living from music, organising private and then public concerts. She aspired to lead the life of a professional musician, rather than making a hobby of it as etiquette would have it. This path would not be without pain: scandal lurked around the corner, and there was fierce competition from other women eager to win fame and glory on stage. But Ann has a certain luck in life, a lot of talent, and her life is worthy of a novel...
