ALLE DANZE, ALLE GIOIE. Balli, balletti, scherzi e madrigali di Claudio Monteverdi
From 30 September to 30 September Italy / Vignola
Claudio Monteverdi's work reveals the revolution of the Seconda Prattica, where music bends to the inflection of the text to bring a true representation of the affections to life. The program ranges from the pastoral dances of L'Orfeo to the Scherzi Musicali, up to the grand architectures of the Eighth and Ninth Books of Madrigals. Through famous pages such as Zefiro torna, Tirsi e Clori, and Vago augelletto, the innovative use of concertante instruments and the concitato style emerges, capable of translating the heat of action, grace, or intimate contemplation into rhythm. Curated by Lia Serafini, the project features the instrumental and vocal Ensemble Dulcedo, a formation of the Early Music Department of the Conservatory of Vicenza. Voices and instruments retrace the season in which the madrigal abandons strict counterpoint to become a modern language, suspended between poetry, song, and movement.
