Ad Tenebras at Festival Internacional de Música Religiosa
04 April/20h00 Portugal / Guimarães
In Coimbra's very rich collection of musical manuscripts, several sources are dedicated to Holy Week, and particular to the Offices of Tenebrae. Faced with such variety, the Capella Sanctae Crucis weaves a panorama of these works, which describe the passage from light to darkness, with the Lamentations and the Responses.
It is a meditative journey to the Easter Triduum in Coimbra between 1530 and 1630, celebrating the Passion of Holy Thursday, Good Friday, and Holy Saturday, where the offices of Matins and Lauds form a single, long Office of Tenebrae - AD TENEBRAS!
