Siren, Queen, Goddess: these are the identities of Partenope - sometimes sacred, sometimes profane - found in the myths, history and legends of the 16th and 17th centuries. We often find her a privileged interlocutor with the city's patron saints - in particular San Gennaro, in whom she believes and confides for the city’s well-being. In the course of their careers, Alessandro Scarlatti and Francesco Mancini on several occasions took the opportunity to celebrate the siren/queen Partenope with compositions, offering works that convey an aura of myth and exceptional musicality, destined to be remembered.
The project includes the recording of the programme for the Arcana Outhere label.
The programme will be enriched by an unpublished composition by Fabio Vacchi.
