Aufg’spuit und g´sunga umara 1800

From 21 July 2024 to 21 July 2024/ Germany / Greifenberg am Ammersee

This concert with readings and music is dedicated to the scribe Phillipp Lenglachner of the magnificent Stubenberg manuscripts.
Travelling through Lower Bavaria as a "rag collector", he wrote down several hundred songs and texts, richly illustrated, and thus left behind a wonderful testimony to Bavarian singing and thinking around 1800. He wrote the sacred and secular songs and texts in dialect, making rich use of the beautiful-sounding Bavarian diatonic lute. A true joy of language and sound!
The concert features songs with old and new texts and melodies - the new ones have been carefully adapted. You will hear about Napoleon, the unfaithful Bavarian, St Anne and more. In addition, some of the beautifully witty and charming texts are read.
The instrumental pieces also come from manuscripts dating from around 1800 - from Lower Bavaria, Upper Bavaria and Swabia.
