TUTTO VIVALDI
L’arte del violino barocco
Compagnia de Violini:
Alessandro Ciccolini and Domenico Scicchitano baroque violins
The programme presents sonatas for two violins without bass by Antonio Vivaldi, preserved in the Giordano Fund of the University Library of Turin and catalogued as RV 70, 71, 68, and 77. These works represent the peaks of Vivaldi writing, with a three-tempo architecture and a two-part form that recalls the structure of the concert. The sonatas date from around 1730 and may have been performed during Vivaldi’s and his father’s journey to central Europe. The program also includes a duet by Andrea Zani, characterized by an original and innovative writing, with movements in two-part form and without bass, highlighting his stylistic affinity with Vivaldi.
