The Young Haendel

Georg Friedrich Haendel came of age in … Italy. He lived there for five years and fully mastered the Italian style between 1706 and 1710. He came to Rome in 1707, immediately winning over his Roman patrons with the liturgical, sometimes festive, sometimes intimate compositions Dixit dominus and Nisi dominus. Lionel Meunier and Vox Luminis rejoice in three brilliant, extroverted psalm settings Handel wrote in Rome for the noble Colonna family.
