Concertgebouw Brugge co-commissions new music by David Lang for The Tallis Scholars. The work, titled sun-centered, accompanies Brumel's twelve-part Missa Et ecce terrae motus, a cathedral of sound, every pillar wrapped in a fine web of voices. The renaissance piece immediately reminded Pulitzer Prize winner David Lang of Galileo, who was censured for claiming that Earth was not the centre of the universe. sun-centered is an ode to discovery, a warning against censorship and a reflection on faith and doubt.
