The Masters of Notre-Dame
16 July 2023/ France / Lisieux
Right since it was founded, the cathedral of Notre-Dame de Paris brought together the greatest musicians of its time. As soon as the building was completed, it was within its walls that the first polyphony was invented: this unprecedented art of superimposing several voices created a new harmony that had never been heard before.
The most creative talents succeeded one another as Chapel Masters, bringing considerable splendour to the liturgy: Campra, Robert, Veillot, Lalouette, Cosset, etc. This programme pays homage to these masters who made the musical reputation of the place.
