TEMPRO LA CETRA

From 07 March 2024 to 07 March 2024/ Italy / Pavia

'Tempro la cetra' features Marco Saccardin, baritone and lute player, who revives the art of singing while accompanying himself. Through madrigals, arias, toccatas and songs by the most significant composers of the early 17th century in Italy, this programme offers an overview of the vocal and instrumental repertoire of this period, performed in the manner of famous performers such as Giulio Caccini, Francesco Rasi, Jacopo Peri and many others.
They used to accompany themselves on the chitarrone, or theorbo, an instrument developed in those years for the accompaniment of voices and the realization of the basso continuo, but which thanks to the ingenuity of composers such as Kapsberger, Piccini and Castaldi was enriched with an important solo repertoire.
