In 1615, the marriage of Louis XIII to the Infanta of Spain sealed a union between France and Spain. Spanish artists, actors and musicians arrived at the French court to accompany the queen. French composers were caught up in this Hispanic fashion and wrote according to a stylistic model that departed from the French courtly art of the time.
Conducted by harpsichordist Chloé Sévère, Ensemble El Sol has dedicated itself since its creation in 2016 to Spanish and South American baroque music of the 17th and 18th centuries. The choice to combine several instruments with the continuo offers the ensemble the possibility of daring transcriptions and a variation of colours in the accompaniment.
