Paisiello and the Grand Duchess

21 of the pieces that make up the corpus of Giovanni Paisiello's keyboard compositions will be performed. These pieces were composed in 1783 during his service of Tsarina Catherine the Second. The Grand Duchess was in possession of these pieces when she witnessed the famous piano duel between Mozart and Clementi in Vienna at the Habsburgs court, during which she offered both musicians pieces by Paisiello to perform. Paisiello's keyboard compositions have mostly come down to us in manuscript copies. In this occasion the pieces reproduced in manuscript 6771, kept in the Library of the Naples Conservatory will be performed
