Orfeo by Claudio Monteverdi - Concerto Soave

From 02 March to 02 March France / Marseille

The Opéra de Marseille welcomes Concerto Soave with Monteverdi's legendary Orfeo. This universal masterpiece, the moving testimony of one of the greatest musical geniuses of all time, needs no introduction.

Romain Bockler, who will play the title role, and Jean-Marc Aymes, harpsichordist and conductor, have set themselves a challenge: to rediscover the emotional power of Monteverdi's masterpiece, anchoring it both in its Renaissance heritage and in future Baroque opera.

In their view, this is the only way to restore the Orfeo's intense impact on the listener, and to give off that almost sacred emotion that overwhelms everyone when they hear an innovative masterpiece. And for this one-off performance, the power of the music will be extended by Jimmy Boury's staging and lighting design.
