Nowruz / About That Magic Circle

At the spring equinox, Nowruz – New Year – is celebrated in the Middle East. As part of the festivities people set a table with seven objects, all of which begin with an ’s’ in Persian: sprouted grains, a sweet wheat germ pudding, coins, a goldfish, eggs, a mirror and candles. In the Concertgebouw we are celebrating with a first concert About That Magic Circle, followed by a cup of tea and something sweet. We close with a short intimate concert of Iranian folk music in honour of Nowruz.
