Mozart, Haydn & The ‘English’ Bach

07 October 2023/ United Kingdom / Stamford

This concert opens with Mozart’s astonishing first symphony, written in London when the composer was eight years old, and it also contains two of the most attractive of Haydn’s early symphonies. Harpsichordist Steven Devine is the soloist in concertos by Mozart and Johann Christian Bach, the second of which features a delightful set of variations on ‘God Save the King’, and the concert concludes with the fiery ‘Sturm und Drang’ drama of J. C. Bach’s G minor symphony.
