LES FANTÔMES D'HAMLET

The myth of Hamlet, fragments of unpublished operas.
Inspired by the same libretto by the Venetian poet Apostolo Zeno, this fascinating project is made up of various fragmeants of operas, some of them lost, by the great Italian masters or influenced by them. The character of Hamlet, and the original Danish legend, form the plot to this lyrical and original program. Italian soprano Roberta Mameli, a star of European Baroque art, is in her element here, between expressive arias and displays of virtuosity. She plays the Danish hero, his fiancée and his mother in a pyrotechnic recital evoking the ghosts of Prince Hamlet.
