The sun conquers the clouds

LES FOLIES FRANÇOISES
Patrick Cohën-Akenine: violin
Jocelyn Daubigney: flute
Emmanuel Balssa: cello
Yanina Yacubsohn: oboe
Jérémie Papasergio: bassoon
Béatrice Martin: harpsichord
Elodie Fonnard: soprano
In 1722, François Couperin (1668 - 1733) published Les Concerts Royaux, a set of four French suites in a variety of timbres that sound like a tribute to the late reign of the Sun King.
Like painters, the musicians of the Folies Françoises offer this programme with great instrumental mastery in the service of harmony and perfect balance to recreate the finesse of these dances, which were very much in vogue at Versailles at the time.
The radiant soprano Elodie Fonnard sets the concert alight with Le soleil vainqueur des nuages, a cantata by Nicolas Clérambault (1676-1749) composed for the reinstatement of Louis XV.
Sunday 10 December 2023 - 8pm
Amilly - Église Saint-Martin
