Le Rossignol et l'Empereur de Chine

Andersen's fairy tale The Nightingale and the Chinese Emperor sums up the beauty of bird music and song: they are elusive and always renew our sense of wonder.
This musical shadow theatre show is an opportunity to give voice to vanished instruments beloved of 18th-century birdwatchers and bird lovers, the bird flageolets and serinettes, and to take a contemporary look at the human/animal relationship, at a time when biodiversity is under attack and birds are gradually disappearing from our soundscape.
