Le Paradis perdu (Paradise Lost)

From 15 April 2025 to 15 March 2025/ France / Lyon

A Baroque journey inspired by Milton's work
For their first concert in Lyon, the Helsinki Baroque Orchestra presents an original program: Aapo Häkkinen uses 17th-century compositions from a manuscript preserved in the city of Uppsala, to introduce us to astonishing works by composers from southern and northern Europe, evoking vanity, guilt, the past and the future of humanity.
Between light and shadow, the charismatic Portuguese soprano Ana Viera Leite appears like an angel in this evocation of Paradise Lost, inspired by Milton's famous poem.
PROGRAMME:
Works by Dietrich Buxtehude, Claudio Monteverdi, Tomàs Luis de Victoria.
Manuscripts preserved at the Düben Collection in Uppsala.
