The Bird Concert

Birdsong is very different from instrumental song, and yet no other animal has ever inspired so many musicians and composers, from the Middle Ages to the 21st century. Through its fascination with birdsong, this programme evokes a certain vision of music in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, between science, nature and culture, mirrored by works from the twentieth and twenty-first centuries.
