La Belle Epoque de la Viole
From 01 October 2022 to 01 October 2022/ Germany / Kummerfeld
Paris 1901: With the encouragement of Camille Saint-Saëns, Henri-Gustave Casadesus founded the Société des Instruments Anciens.
This was an ensemble comprising quinton, viola d’amore, harpsichord, viols and viola da gamba – at this time, an organological rediscovery, still far from the norm of performance practice. The repertoire of the Société included primarily instrumental music of the 17th and 18th centuries and newly composed stylistic imitations for this organological Cabinet of Curiosities.
Works by Henri-Gustave Casadesus, F. Farcas, O. Respighi, R. Schumann
Hamburger Ratsmusik
with Annegret Siedel, viola d’amore, Hermann Hickethier, viol, Holger Philippsen, cello,
Anke Dennert, harpsichord and Simone Eckert, pardessus de viole, basse de viole
