Itinéraire Baroque en Périgord Vert

From 27 July 2024 to 04 August 2024/ France / Cercles, Mareuil, Verteillac, St Astier

6 days, 40 concerts, 10 heritage venues and over 100 artists.

The festival kicks off at the end of July with Molière's Les Femmes Savantes, followed by the opening concert by the ensemble Les Surprises, conducted by Louis-Noël Bestion de Camboulas, who will transport us to Monteverdi's Venice.

This year, as part of our traditional Itinéraire, we'll be taking a closer look at the Nontronnais region, whose exceptional, verdant landscape is dotted with Romanesque chapels and castles that rival each other in charm and history.
You'll be able to discover young ensembles invited for the first time, such as the Flemish ensemble Musica Gloria and the Spanish vocal quartet Cantoria. But you'll also be reunited with Itinéraire Baroque regulars Johannette Zomer, Fred Jacobs, Bob Smith, Rie Kimura, Tini Mathot, Klaus Mertens and many others.

This summer season will close with Johann Sebastian Bach's St John Passion, which Ton Koopman, on the occasion of his 80ᵉniversary, has chosen to perform with the full Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra and Choir in the church of Saint Astier, which we will be delighted to see again.
