Il Pazzo e la Pazza

A musical repartee between two lovers who, driven mad by lovesickness, go so mad that they kill themselves. Only one remains who, alive but not quite sane, wanders like Orpheus in search of his Eurydice. A special bond seems to bind Neapolitan inspiration to the madness of love and so a long succession of composers such as Scarlatti, Giramo, Farina, Provenzale and Caresana set love madness to music in all its facets. Influences from the world of the commedia dell'arte, popular music, classical poetry with the unmistakable note of irony of Neapolitan theatre.
