Il combattimento di Tancredi e Clorinda

As part of the Stresa Festival, La fonte musica, under the direction of Michele Pasotti, proposes a reconstruction of the first performance of the Combattimento di Tancredi e Clorinda, which was represented in 1624 in Palazzo Mocenigo in Venice, in the presence of the Venetian nobles, who, touched by the performance, “were about to cry”.
The program, following the recommendations given by Monteverdi himself in the preface of the “Ottavo libro de’ madrigali”, includes some “madrigali senza gesto” (without representation) preceding the Combattimento itself.
