From Iran to Palestine : Ensemble Chakâm
From 24 May to 24 May France / Lyon
The Chakâm Ensemble, named after an ancient Persian poetic form, blends the radiant târ of Sogol Mirzaei (Iran) with the silky qanûn of Christine Zayed (Palestine), carried by the profound viola da gamba of Marie-Suzanne de Loye (France). Between repertoire pieces, personal compositions and improvisations, these three musicians reveal an intense language in which song sometimes joins the intoxicating dialogue of strings. It evokes a music at a crossroads, between nostalgia for lands left behind too soon, idealization of an elsewhere that fades over time, and the ceaseless vitality of discovery and renewal.
