Ann Ford, a woman musician in 18th century

13 April 2024/15h00/ France / Orléans

Ann Ford was a meteor in the musical history of 18th-century England. Born into a wealthy family, she received a meticulous musical education that led her to seek to make a living from her art by organising private and then public concerts, rather than practising music for leisure as etiquette would have it. This path was not without pain: scandal lurked around the corner, and the fierce competition from other women eager to win fame and glory on stage was not long in coming. But Ann has a certain luck in life, a lot of talent, and her life is worthy of a novel...
Music by Ann Ford (1737-1824), C.F. Abel (1723-1787), J.C. Bach (1735-1782), F. Geminiani (1687-1762)
