In 2025, Les Folies françoises will blow out its twenty-five candles. Drawing on a quarter-century of award-winning concerts and recordings devoted to the Cantor, the ensemble will perform the complete Brandenburg Concertos on Bach's birthday - a rare live-music experience!
Composed around 1721, this unique corpus marks a major turning point in the history of music. With these six concertos, Bach demonstrated his unequalled mastery of the concertante form, masterfully exploring the sonic possibilities of the Baroque orchestra. Each concerto is a musical microcosm, combining virtuosity, contrapuntal complexity and emotional expressiveness; emblematic pieces of the Baroque period.
