“Third choice only?” – 300 Years of J.S.Bach in Leipzig
When 1722 the position of the “Thomaskantor” was vacant, Hamburg music director G.P. Telemann was voted for. Neither he nor the second candidate Chr. Graupner from Darmstadt could accept the position so J.S. Bach as third choice started a long-running and outstanding phase of life and creativity here.
