Concert: T. Baù (gamba) & A. Buccarella (harpsichord)

21 November 2023/ Italy / Padova

The three Sonatas BWV 1027-1029 (and the Flute Sonata BWV 1030 in a version for gamba and harpsichord) are a clear example of a form that was invented by J.S. Bach himself: that of the sonata for melodic instrument (violin, flute or viola da gamba) and keyboard concertante instrument (harpsichord). In this genre, the keyboard is not subordinate to the melodic instrument, but participates in the musical action on the same level, having a concerting part.
