CONCERT: PABLO MÁRQUEZ | EARLY MUSIC MORELLA

21 July 2024/13h00/ Spain / Morella, Castellón

FROM THE RENAISSANCE TO THE BAROQUE
300 YEARS OF THE MORELLA ORGAN (1724 - 2024)

Commemorative concert for the 300th anniversary (1724-2024)
Built by Francisco Turull, between 1717, the year of the commission, and 1724, the year of delivery. The organ is located next to the choir, between the first two columns of the left nave. The Baroque case is the work of sculptor Vicente Dols; on the cornice, there are three sections of canonical pipes; the organ with sound consists of two bodies: the first corresponds to the main organ and occupies the main part of the facade; the second corresponds to the positive organ, located behind the organist’s backrest, whose pipes were covered by oil paintings.
Currently, it is mechanically transmitted and consists of 3,645 pipes. It is considered the most important historical organ in the Valencian Community, and with this concert, greater visibility and diffusion are given to this impressive instrument, unique in Valencian Baroque construction, as the protagonist of our historical, cultural, and musical heritage.
