Concert: Acadèmia CDM

15 May 2024/20h00/ Spain / Patio del Corral del Carbón | Granada

Acadèmia CdM is a didactic project of Capella de Ministrers that aims to provide young performers of early music with the necessary tools for their improvement and professionalization in this unique repertoire. It is a residential course that focuses on experimenting with new proposals for the reinterpretation of early music, using historical criteria. The musical reinterpretation integrates praxis, musicological and ethnomusicological criteria, based on practical and theoretical European sources ranging from the Middle Ages to the Baroque.

The Cancionero Musical de Palacio, from the beginning of the 16th century, is a real treasure. It contains at least 450 compositions collected throughout the 15th and early 16th centuries at the court of the Catholic Monarchs. Most of them are due to Juan del Encina (1468-1530), although the composer did not maintain official relations with the court. Among the genres represented in the Cancionero, the villancico predominates, along with romances and estrambotes, popular songs that can deal with any aspect of daily life, with a marked preference for love or heartbreak. The CdM 2024 Academy dedicates this compilation, which bears witness to an era through poetry and music, the most subtle means of communicating with future generations.
