"Auf Leitern der Music ins Paradies der Lust"

07 September 2023/ Germany / Hamburg

Few other German poets were as celebrated during their lifetime as Hamburg's Barthold Heinrich Brockes (1680-1747). Many great composers of his time set his texts to music, most famously including his Passion oratorio. Brockes' main work, "Irdisches Vergnügen in Gott," focuses on nature. His pictorial poetry delights, moves and teaches respect for creation to this day - prophetic and more relevant than ever in light of today's threats to nature.
The program leads via the arias of George Frideric Handel to completely new discoveries in works by G.P. Telemann and J.C. Bachofen.
