Antonio Draghi - Das verwunschene Glück

From 21 June 2025 to 23 June 2025/ Austria / Graz

Austria celebrates 400 years of Eggenberg Palace, one of two UNESCO world heritage sites in pittoresque Graz - Austria. ĀRT HOUSE 17 recorded the music for the exhibition and plays the opening events of Styriarte Festival: The wedding opera by Antonio Draghi including one aria by the groom who happens to be Emperor Leopold I. himself... and it's really beautiful!

In 1673, Eggenberg Palace shone in festive splendour. Archduchess Claudia Felizitas of Tyrol lived here during her glamorous wedding to Emperor Leopold I. Previously, an intrigue at the Viennese court had almost prevented the marriage of the self-confident, musical woman to the emperor, but the envious parties were unable to prevail. And this is exactly what court composer Antonio Draghi describes in his enchanting ballet opera ‘Das verwunschene Glück’ (Gl'Incantesimi Disciolti or Enchanted Happiness), which is premiered in Graz to coincide with the emperor's wedding. In it, Happiness and Good Will fall in love with each other, but are bewitched by malicious Envy so that they lose each other. Only the intervention of the heavens puts everything right again. A fairy tale with Sophie Daneman, Johanna Falkinger, Anna Manske, Markus Schäfer, Julian Habermann, Dietrich Henschel, and a wonderul ensemble ĀRT HOUSE 17 around musical director Michael Hell. Thomas Höft, who translated the Italian original version into German, will direct the cast.
