AMORE E PSICHE tra Apuleio e Boiardo
L’Asino d’oro in volgare con musica rinascimentale
Valentina Scuderi acting
Consort of flutes L’Aureliana
On the occasion of festivalfilosofia: Psiche
The show involves the interaction between texts and music, with the narration of large excerpts from the Novella di Apuleio, in the first Italian translation by Matteo Maria Boiardo (1441-1494), with music from the fifteenth century. The story tells of the love between the beautiful Psyche and Eros, the god of love, and the pain caused by the jealousy of Venus. The musical programme of the Consort of flutes presents a selection of Renaissance pieces from the rich polyphonic tradition of the time. Intricate melodies, sophisticated harmonies and complex sound textures explore a variety of themes: from the celebration of the cosmos and beauty to the melancholy of impossible love and reflection on the volatility of fate.
