From the courtly love of Ars Nova in the 14th century to the cantatas of Johann Sebastian Bach in the 18th century, composers have never ceased to set the universal theme of love to music. Whether profane or sacred, happy or unhappy, many facets of this sentiment will be presented by the guest artists for this 37th edition.
Landini, Monteverdi, Schütz, Purcell, Scarlatti, Clérambault and Bach will be on the programme of the nine concerts offered between 6 and 22 October. The high point will be a production of Henry Purcell's opera Dido & Aeneas.
