ensemble freymut - Austria

ensemble freymut was founded in early 2018 following the meeting of four young musicians at the Vienna University of Music (MDW). The ensemble is dedicated to the study of historical music sources and literature, as well as the visual arts of the Baroque period. At the same time, the ensemble seeks to bridge these past eras with the present day, connecting Baroque music with contemporary art and other genres through cross-disciplinary and interactive projects. ensemble freymut has been the artistic director of the Open Air Festival ViertelBarock in Vienna since summer 2023.
