zamus: early music festival | Shvayg Mayn Harts |

From 23 May 2024 to 23 May 2024/ Germany / Cologne

Michael Alexander Willens is eager to share songs with his audience written by his grandfathers: Alexander Olshanetsky (1892-1946) and Herman Yablokoff (1903-1981) were among the most famous composers in the Golden Age of Yiddish theatre in America. Roman Grinberg and Sasha Lurje, two international stars of Yiddish music, sing these songs, which were once performed in musicals and eventually became standards, now with the Cologne Academy Big Band, a historically informed line-up based on the show band that Alexander Olshanetsky had at his disposal as music director at the famous Concord Hotel in New York State.
