Death and birth, eternity and ephemerality – we can only speculate about the central questions of humanity. Music is similarly mysterious: Where are its roots, and why is it capable of touching us in such ways?

The music of this programme talks about hardship, death, sadness and despair, but still provides assurance and hope.
