Dublin HandelFest
15 - 17 July 2022
Dublin Castle, Dublin, Ireland
Handel's visit to Dublin in 1741 - 1742 will forever be associated with his 'Messiah', which received its first performance on Fishamble Street. However, there is a multitude of stories associated with this period of Irish musical history, along with plenty of fantastic music! Dublin HandelFest is the Irish Baroque Orchestra's gift to the city of Dublin - an opportunity to enjoy and reclaim this important chapter. In 2022 the HandelFest explores the work of Cousser and Purcell, both of whom shaped Dublin's musical scene prior to Handel's arrival, a walking tour takes in the sites of some of the venues that would have existed in Handel's day, and a 'Messiah Discovery Day' aims to explore this magnificent piece more closely.
