Pavia, Aula Godonia of the Collegio Ghislieri

As a result of their residency at the Centro di Musica Antica Ghislieri, the Tamuz ensemble is proposing a programme based on the Quintet for strings with two cellos. A genre that saw the birth of the composer and cellist Luigi Boccherini from Lucca in the second half of the 18th century, the Quintet for two cellos probably finds one of its highest expressions in Franz Schubert's Quintet in C major D 956 (1828).

Inspired by an extensive study of historical practice and the use of original instruments, the Tamuz ensemble aims to give new expressive power to these pages of Classicism.

The concert will be introduced by Professor Clive Brown.
